Villa Asmara : A romantic paradise in North Bali

The word ‘Asmara’ in Bahasa (the official language of Indonesia) means love and romance. We think Villa Asmara is rightfully named so, it is the most romantic place we have stayed in! We really felt like we were on a second honeymoon. Located in Dencarik (pronounced Dencharik) near Lovina in North Bali, Villa Asmara is the perfect honeymoon destination. If you are planning your honeymoon, look no further.

Away from the touristy crowd, escape the backpackers and the noise and the crowds. Imagine the opposite of Kuta. Slow down and breathe. Watch the sun set and read a book. We can bet that like us you will not want to step out of this beautiful villa. But if you are travelling with kids, or for some reason you want some activities, you can go to the nearest town of Lovina which is a 15 minute drive. We have included activities in Lovina at the end of the post, so keep reading.

Our affair with the infinity pool in Villa Asmara

Our favourite part of Villa Asmara? The gorgeous infinity pool! If you have been following us for a long time, you will know that we love infinity pools. This one just took our heart away. It overlooks the sea. Take a dip in the afternoon. The water is just the right temperature. We recommend take a nap and go back in for a second swim. The blue sky against the blue sea will surely not disappoint.

As the natural light faded, Villa Asmara lit up and looked so pretty that it stole our breath away. The purple pink sky felt unreal. The gazebo, the chairs, the umbrella; we felt like we were in a movie.

The architecture of the villa is pretty modern and somehow reminded us of the Carribean. The vibe of the entire villa is very relaxed. If you live hectic lives, this is the place to be. Unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet in the lap of luxury.

The rooms

There are 5 bedrooms. While one of the lower bedrooms has a four poster bed, the one on the first floor has a balcony with a tub! Choices, choices! We took the opportunity to soak in and read. There’s also a massage table. We got massages without even leaving the villa. Relaxation like never before!

They also have a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a big screen tv. The DVD player has a large assortment of DVDs including children’s films. The wi-fi is strong and we could watch a livestream of our favourite gameplay on twitch. Yeah, we know, such a nerdy thing to do!

For the non nerds, there is  a pool table and board games, in case you are stuck inside due to bad weather. We were really lucky and had sunny weather all three days that we stayed here.

The staff

We cannot write a accommodation review without mentioning the staff. The staff really takes care of you. The manager Made, made us authentic home cooked Indonesian meals. We felt like were at home rather than a hotel.

Another thing we loved about Villa Asmara was that it opened up straight to the beach. Unlike a lot of touristy beaches in Bali, there were only local kids playing football, who eventually left and we had the beach all to ourselves. We took a leisurely romantic stroll on the beach at sunset.

We were so deliriously happy and pampered in Villa Asmara, that we did not want to step out. But if you are looking for activities, here’s what you can do around Villa Asmara:

  •  Soak in the Banjar hot springs. (10 km southwest of Lovina)
  • Visit the cascading Sekumpul and Git Git Waterfall.
  • Go Dolphin watching.
  • Dive in Puri Jati, a macro diving site around Lovina. If you want to venture further, you can to go to either Menjangan Island or USAT Liberty around an hour and a half from Lovina.
You can book Villa Asmara via Agoda

We love infinity pools too! Any hotel or villa that has an infinity pool gets a thumbs up from us!

I can definitely see why it is called ‘love and romance’, just the setting and that beautiful infinity pool make it seem like such a romantic location. The villa itself looks stunning though, and it’s so huge! I’m very jealous!

This sounds amazing. What are the typical rates for a stay? I want to head back to Bali but visit a totally different part of the island and this fits the bill perfectly

The villa cost is typically around GBP 175-200 per night. The booking link is in the post if you’re interested. You can go with either Airbnb or Homeaway depending on what you prefer.

Bali is definitely on my list and I am so loving the infinity pool especially how it overlooks the ocean. The villa is definitely a romantic setting. One day I hope to experience it soon.

It’s definitely the most romantic villa we have stayed at! Hope you do get a chance to stay here!

This looks and sounds like the perfect romantic getaway for any couple. Unfortunately, I chose hotels when I was in Bali with my boyfriend, but next time a villa is a must!

A villa experience is so much different than a hotel. We mixed it up and stayed in both which was a good idea.

It looks so quiet and peaceful! AND a quiet beachfront! Cannot get more romantic than that. Awesome review, will definitely keep this fab option in mind for my next Bali trip.

It definitely was! Such a contrast to areas like Kuta and Seminyak.

I can see how you loved this place, it’s gorgeous, especially the infinity pool. I visited Lovina many years ago, clearly things in the area have changed. Time to go back! I’ve bookmarked this!

The villa looks lovely and it’s nice that it’s right on the beach. Do they make you breakfast, lunch and dinner or do you have to buy groceries and cook?

I’m definitely the kind of person that needs activities. I like to keep busy if I’m going to spend all that money to go on holiday, so I’m glad to hear that there’s diving nearby.

Villas have a charm of their own. I prefer them to the usual resorts. Love the rooms’ set up. I may not use the kitchen facility though.
The luxury is enticing me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree. The infinity pool overlooking the sea the is indeed breathtaking. This is sort of place where I don’t mind staying doing… nothing ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Bali is so popular with us Indians that I feel like jumping into a plane right-away and explore Villa Asmara.

  14. December 20, 2017 / 9:03 AM

The villa definitely does look so romantic and relaxing! I would also have a hard time leaving to explore any farther. And, I can just imagine watching the sunset or sunrise from the infinity pool. What an absolute dream!

Villa Asmara definitely sounds like an incredible retreat for a romantic vacation! And I love that itโ€™s away from the party scene in Bali โ€“ I donโ€™t enjoy the crowds as much as I used to! The infinity pool is definitely amazing, and itโ€™s always been my dream to stay in a four poster bed! We’re in Australia and often see cheap flights to Bali, so maybe it’s time to plan a second honeymoon!
